En este ensayo, el autor pretende aportar los elementos esenciales que permitan construir un esquema general sobre el derecho de réplica, rectificación o respuesta. En un primer apartado, se formula una propuesta para definir dicha figura jurídica; posteriormente, se analizan tanto el contenido como el objeto de la misma, al ser estos sus principales elementos estructurales; finalmente, se revisa la Opinión Consultiva 7/86 de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, en la cual dicho Tribunal Internacional se pronunció sobre los alcances de la exigibilidad del derecho de respuesta.

In this essay, the author aims to provide the basic elements to build an overview on the right of reply. In the first section, is formulated a proposed definition of this legal concept. Then both the content and the subject of the right of reply are analyzed, as these are the main structural elements; finally, we review the content of OC-7/86 of the Interamerican Court of Human Rights, in which this International Court pronounced itself on the enforceability of the right of reply.
